The First Emperor, Han Kiiro, was ordained by Heaven as the first among men to share blood with the great Celestial Dragons, who had guided the creation of the universe. All men had bowed before the great dragon who had fathered the boy emperor, and this same loyalty and love they extended to the son. As the child grew, it was clear that Heaven had blessed him with the strength and wisdom of the dragons, while giving him also the grace and beauty of the Empress Mother. When the Son of Heaven took a wife, the Lady Shu, who nearly matched his own beauty though she was of humble birth, the Empress Mother and the great dragon rose to the heavens, leaving mighty and wise Han Kiiro to govern the people, ruling them with justice and mercy.
Han Kiiro, not wishing to squander the resources of his Empire, had a small palace built for himself and his lady in the city of Shangti, moving the Imperial Court and the ancestral shrines far from the borders of the Akki-Kou Zetsu Mori, the devil tongue forest, where the Oni, the enemies of men, had been driven back by the Imperial Army. The Son of Heaven established Liaoyan, a city in the trees, to defend all of Rosuto-Shima from the threat of an Oni invasion; proclaiming the beginning of an era of peace, Han Kiiro ushered in an age of prosperity that stretched to all corners of the island.
This was the beginning of the Han dynasty, and the rule of the family Han lasted for more than a thousand years.
